What to expect

Experience the elemental power of an ancient landscape. Enjoy uninterrupted views of sea loch, mountains and ever-changing sky-scape. Croft 103 incorporates two five-star self-catering properties, Hill and Shore Cottage. Located on the shores of Loch Eriboll in North West Sutherland, Croft 103 is set in an area of unparalleled natural beauty.

These cottages embody the best of sustainable Highland luxury. Fully equipped kitchens provide inspiration aplenty for home-cooked meals, with brushed aluminum features and high-end appliances, you can’t go wrong, really.

Locally milled Douglas fir beams and high ceilings draw your attention upwards and outwards towards views framed by magnificent glass running the length of both properties. The triple paned glass gives the Crofts an indoor-outdoor feel, particularly when the sliding doors are thrown open on warmer evenings.

Both Croft103 properties feature bespoke, hand-crafted super king beds fitted with plush feather bedding and premium linens. Spacious bathrooms employ both rain showers and grand baths with beautiful finishes and premium eco-products. Enjoy the views from bed or from the comfort of the living space atop leather couches or recliners. Finish things off with tunes from a SONOS surroundsound system and a vino in hand.

Expect to leave fully recharged, refreshed and in love.

Availability and Book

Before you book

  • Weekly rental (7 nights) run from Saturday 5pm to Saturday 9:30am
  • Each cottage sleeps one couple only; Croft 103 is not suitable for children. Babies in arms welcome.
  • Payment can be made in two instalments by card or bank transfer
  • Dog friendly but we ask for a maximum of two dogs per property and have a £50 per dog cleaning charge

  • Wifi available – it is decent but due to the remote nature of the Croft, it is not groundbreaking
  • TV with Smart TV capability
  • Everyone loves coffee! We have both a French Press cafetiere and stovetop espresso pot available
  • Full laundry and kitchen
  • The Cottages are cleaned down every week and there are no dry goods (coffee and tea etc.) included. We provide all paper and cleaning products.
  • Outdoor BBQ, charcoal can be sourced locally
  • For reservations during winter months, we advise the use of a 4×4 vehicle
  • Ample private parking at the doorstep of each cottage
  • We encourage all our lovely guests to think, shop and use local. The village stores are there to be used. They are fantastic, well priced and will do the work for you – with a smile!

Although we are remote, we are very fortunate to have fantastic local meat & fish as well as an excellent village store. Our ethos is to support local and use what we have on hand – this really matters to us so we strongly encourage all our lovely guests to put their thinking heads on and shop local. We invite you to support it rather than ‘feeding the machine’ as we say. The Durness shop www.durnessshop.com will soon be accepting online orders but until then you can either call (+44)1971 511202 or e-mail orders@durnessshop.com with your shopping list. They will arrange it all and we will deliver it to the house for your arrival. Simply settle your account directly in-store during your stay.

The Shop

We are very proud to be ‘not your average store’. We operate our very own small scale in-store bakery, with a fine choice of breads as well as, delicious pastries and our coffee to go is excellent. The village shop is a great choice for breakfast, lunch & dinner.

We welcome email orders (few days before arrival helpful but not essential) and if renting a local cottage we will deliver the goods to your house before your arrival- free of charge*
