What to Expect

The cabin is a perfectly proportioned & tastefully styled retreat to escape, relax & explore the magically wild North West. Heated stone floors, comfortable beds, crisp linens, fluffy towels, log fires inside and out, parking and super-fast wifi – what more could you need?

It even boasts a private, outdoor (but covered) snug featuring an open fire, and brilliant outdoor seating upon which to enjoy a drink while staying warm and cosy.

Furnished with an eclectic collection of reclaimed finds, the Cabin has a fun vibe. It features one double and one twin room, with a clean, crisp bathroom finished with a gorgeous mix of copper and inky black surfaces.

As dedicated foodies we’ve provided you with the tools to cook up a storm with a stunning and easy to use oven and oversized fridge… and for those who don’t want to wash up on holiday we have a slim line dishwasher. For dining, a raised butchers block with tall stools in the open plan kitchen area flows to the lounge, comfy oversized sofa, perfect for watching movies, socialising or curling up with a good book. Or take it outside and watch village life unfold on our generous covered deck.

Availability and Book

Before You Book

  • Weekly rental (7 nights) run from Friday 5pm to Friday 10am
  • Weekend rental (3 nights) run from Friday 5pm until Monday 10am subject to availability
  • Mid-week rental (4 nights) Monday 5pm to Friday 10am subject to availability
  • 4 people maximum one double room and one twin room
  • A £450 deposit secures your booking, the balance (i.e. full rental cost) is required 8 weeks prior to arrival. Payment can be made by card or bank transfer.
  • We are very dog friendly but we ask for a maximum of two dogs and we have a £50 per dog cleaning charge
  • Wood burning stove, a supply of condensed wood, BBQ, free Wifi, wireless speaker, hairdryer, TV, French Press and a fully equipped kitchen.
  • Laundry (washer only) located on-site in a small outhouse

  • The Cabin is cleaned down every week and there are no dry goods (incl. coffee and tea) included. We do provide cleaning and paper products. Please see below about ordering food in advance and shopping local.
  • For reservations during winter months, we always advise the use of a 4×4 vehicle
  • There is private onsite parking

Although we are remote, we are very fortunate to have fantastic local meat & fish as well as an excellent village store. Our ethos is to support local and use what we have on hand – this really matters to us so we strongly encourage all our lovely guests to put their thinking heads on and shop local. We invite you to support it rather than ‘feeding the machine’ as we say. The Durness shop www.durnessshop.com will soon be accepting online orders but until then you can either call (+44)1971 511202 or e-mail orders@durnessshop.com with your shopping list. They will arrange it all and we will deliver it to the house for your arrival. Simply settle your account directly in-store during your stay.

The Shop

We are very proud to be ‘not your average store’. We operate our very own small scale in-store bakery, with a fine choice of breads as well as, delicious pastries and our coffee to go is excellent. The village shop is a great choice for breakfast, lunch & dinner.

We welcome email orders (few days before arrival helpful but not essential) and if renting a local cottage we will deliver the goods to your house before your arrival- free of charge*
