The Lazy Crofter Bunkhouse may be a small hostel but what it offers is definitely not on a small scale, set amongst powerful mountains and coastal scenery commanding spectacular views over the North Atlantic Ocean. This true wee gem is owned and managed by Robbie and Fiona Mackay who pride themselves on the warm atmosphere and genuine highland hospitality on offer to all visitors.

What to Expect

The Lazy Crofter Bunkhouse is an independent, self-catered hostel with a mix of large and small dorm rooms. It is available anywhere between 1 night, a week or longer. Please note we now only sell by room and no longer offer single bed rental

We provide privately rented bunk-rooms for individuals or groups with a mixture of very small 2 bed rooms suitable for individuals or a couple and large rooms suitable for between 2-8 people.

Please note that all other fully equipped facilities (bathroom, laundry, kitchen and living room) are shared spaces.

The Lazy Crofter Bunkhouse is conveniently located in the middle of Durness within 100m of bus route, an excellent village store for all your supplies , ATM machine , and 24hour self service petrol station. Before You Book

• Shared Hostel Accommodation with private dorm style bedrooms
• Small room (1-2 people) £50.00 per night
• Large room (2-8 people 4 bunks) between £160.00 and £220 per night

• Check-in is between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Check out is by 9:30am. These times are firm unless otherwise arranged.
• No Parties or Rowdy groups welcome
• The Lazy Crofter Bunkhouse is fully equipped with a drying room, laundry and kitchen with everything you may need. The washing machine from £4.00 per load.
• The use of BBQ’s disposable or otherwise is not permitted anywhere on site. It is a fire risk. We have all your cooking needs covered in our shared kitchen
• All beds are made fresh for guest’s arrival. Bath towels can be rented for £2.00 each
• Wifi is available throughout the bunkhouse free of charge
• We are bike friendly, free storage available on request
• Whilst here at Mackays we are dog friendly, due to the shared nature of the bunkhouse we do not allow dogs or any other pets. Exclusions may apply for exclusive bookings.
• There is no dedicated bunkhouse parking on-site, however, we do offer ample off-site parking behind the local shop on request. Although closer, there is limited free public parking available across the street around the war memorial. Please do not park in designated residential parking.
