What to Expect

Downstairs, the House enjoys open plan living for a very sociable and practical space. Upstairs boasts a multi-use space for an escape from the kids (or for the kids), a private office or somewhere to mull over a dram whilst taking in the ever-changing landscape of the Wild North.

The house is just the right size for any stay. With two double rooms and a twin room, it is ideally suited for couples looking for a private escape with some room to spare or for friends and family to share.

  • A £500 deposit secures your booking, the balance (i.e. full rental cost) is required 8 weeks prior to arrival. Payment can be made by card or bank transfer.
  • We are very dog friendly but we ask for a maximum of two dogs and we have a £50 per dog cleaning charge
  • Wood burning stove, a supply of condensed wood, free wifi, TV, wireless speaker, laundry, hairdryer, French press, stovetop espresso maker and a fully equipped kitchen. What more could you want?
  • The House is cleaned down every week and there are no dry goods (coffee and tea etc.) provided. We do supply all cleaning and paper products. Please see below about ordering food in advance and shopping local.
  • Outdoor BBQ
  • For reservations during winter months, we advise the use of a 4×4 vehicle
  • Ample onsite private parking

Although we are remote, we are very fortunate to have fantastic local meat & fish as well as an excellent village store. Our ethos is to support local and use what we have on hand – this really matters to us so we strongly encourage all our lovely guests to put their thinking heads on and shop local. We invite you to support it rather than ‘feeding the machine’ as we say. The Durness shop www.durnessshop.com will soon be accepting online orders but until then you can either call (+44)1971 511202 or e-mail orders@durnessshop.com with your shopping list. They will arrange it all and we will deliver it to the house for your arrival. Simply settle your account directly in-store during your stay.
